Photon works with Xtream Codes subscriptions. Adding one gives you the channels, the schedule, and any films and shows the subscription carries.
Live TV is a Pro feature.
Adding a subscription
- Go to Settings ▸ Live TV ▸ Add Subscription.
- Enter the portal address, username and password your provider gave you.
- Photon fetches the channel list and the guide.
- A Live TV tab appears once the first subscription is added.
You need three things from your provider: the portal address, a username and a password. Photon does not sell or provide subscriptions, and it cannot recover a login for you.
Where its content appears
Channels stay in the Live TV tab and are not mixed into the rest of the app.
Films and shows from the subscription are treated as a source like any other, so they can appear in Home and Search alongside your servers. To leave them out, turn that library off in Settings ▸ General ▸ Libraries.
Refreshing
The channel list and the guide are copies of what your provider publishes, kept so that opening the guide is instant rather than a wait.
| Refresh Channels | How long the channel list is kept: an hour, two, three, six, twelve, a day, three days or a week. |
| Refresh Guide | The same, capped at a day. The guide covers one day, so keeping it longer than that would mean drawing a schedule that has already passed. |
Both are in Settings ▸ Live TV. A shorter interval means a subscription that changes often stays accurate; a longer one means fewer requests to your provider.
The caches
The same page shows how much space the channel list and the guide are using, and clears either one.
Nothing is lost by clearing them. Both are copies of what your provider publishes, and they are fetched again the next time you open the guide.
Removing a subscription
Settings ▸ Live TV ▸ your subscription ▸ Remove. The Live TV tab disappears with the last subscription, and nothing on your provider’s side is changed.
